Letter №14 — November

Sunday table

Opening

The Sunday I almost skipped.

It was raining and the bread didn't rise. I almost set the table for one. But my mother arrived with flour on her sleeves and we cooked anyway — and that, I think, is the whole point.

Some Sundays you don't feel like making them special. Make them anyway. The smallest gesture — a folded napkin, the bread on the table — is enough to say: we are here, together.

“A ritual is just attention, repeated.”

— Thought of the month

A micro-ritual to try this month

The five-minute table.

  1. 01.Choose one cloth — even just a folded tea towel.
  2. 02.Add one thing alive — a sprig of rosemary, a candle.
  3. 03.Sit down before eating, even for thirty seconds.
